Allegheny Branch House Lofts shows how Pittsburgh’s industrial and commercial past can be reimagined for modern living. Located in Central Northside, the building occupies the former International Harvester “Allegheny Branch House,” which was built in phases between 1905 and 1913 — the period when Allegheny City merged into Pittsburgh.

Originally serving as a regional sales, service, and showroom facility, the building was later used by Harry Guckert Company  and was mostly vacant for decades until Q Development purchased the building.

Through careful rehabilitation, the structure was transformed into 36 loft apartments with 21 unique floor plans shaped by the building’s original form. The redevelopment preserves the building’s industrial character through exposed post-and-beam construction, tall timber and historic tin ceilings, and original masonry, while also introducing modern residential finishes throughout. This keeps history alive while supporting the building’s new chapter.

• The lobby features a restored 1946 Farmall Model H tractor, a model once sold inside the building.
• The former freight elevator shaft now serves as a glass-floored elevator lobby, allowing views from the basement up to a skylight above.
